We already have our first 2010 Camaro project. :w00t: What are you going to do with the L99?

I'm officially jealous!:D

Cessna510 08-24-2008 08:09 PM

how much did that run you, if you don't mind me asking. I'd like to put an LS7 in a 5th gen with some LT's and an X-pipe....i'd get happy pants every time i drove it.

o2camaross 08-24-2008 08:11 PM

sweet, whos building it? Are you sticking with N/A?

camaro1 08-24-2008 08:55 PM

im building it, well besides from the machine work/balancing

new gm LS3 block $1300
stroker kit, crank, rods, pistons, bearings (4.080 bore, 4" stroke) $1700
cnc ported LS3/L92 heads with valves and .660" springs $1600

machine work, balancing, boring/honing, setup $500

then the small stuff, camshaft, lifters, timing chain, oil pump, bolts, gaskets-$1000

GTAHVIT 08-24-2008 09:23 PM

Little over 6 grand huh. Bench dyno, what do you think the numbers will be?

camaro1 08-24-2008 10:09 PM

550+ hp easy

GTAHVIT 08-24-2008 10:16 PM

550 at the Crank?

Do you know what the Compression Ratio will end up at?

Sounds sweet.

Very nice! Everyday I am researching performance mods for my future Camaro. Just stumbled upon the MP2300 Supercharger which is the same one being used in the ZR1's LS9 engine. Also been tossing around the idea of an LS7 for the '427' effect. Lots of options and plenty of time to contemplate them.

Cessna510 08-25-2008 05:17 AM

Hmmmm sounds like a great deal since your doing the assembly! Getting ready to build a house, but man i'd like to be able to buy an SS and make it sick right off the bat.

That is a very cool project. Thank you for sharing.

I'm way too lazy and I lack the mechanical skills to make that happen. Plus, my wife would shoot me for dropping $6k on a new motor for a $32k car. Nonetheless, I will live vicariously through you and hopefully learn a thing or two along the way.

rayhawk 09-19-2008 03:38 PM

Those heads look awesome. Are those larger valves, or the standard size for the L92 head? What cam do you plan on running? I take it you plan on stripping the L99 motor and using those parts to finish the build? Looks like it will be an awesome combo. Good luck with the build.

I take it you are building a 550HP automatic Camaro? Any reason why instead of the manual trans? BTW, very cool project :) Will keep an eye on this thread. Good luck and enjoy your new beast..
