You're the driver when Texas Motor Speedway opens the Speedway to the public for the first time this year. Experience the thrill of driving your car around the 1.5-mile super speedway all to benefit the Texas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

Polish up your special vehicle and come on out to "The Great American Speedway!" on Saturday, May 8, 2010 for Laps for Charity I. Take three laps on the 1.5 mile Super Speedway behind a pace vehicle for just a $30 donation and have your picture taken in Victory Lane for an additional $10. Once again our fan favorite VIP Laps Experience will be offered for $250. Laps will be conducted for Car Clubs (by reservation) from 5-7 p.m. and for the General Public from 7-10 p.m. No reservation is needed for the General public time.

VIP Laps Experience for $250 donation per car Includes:
(1) 5 Laps Session during a special reserved time slot
(1) Three-Course Dinner for two at the Starlight Dinning Room in The Speedway Club (May 8, 2010)
(1) Photo in Victory Lane with your Car
(2) Laps for Charity event T-shirt

Drivers must be 18 years of age or older. All occupants in a car including the driver must wear a safety belt. Passengers must be 6 years of age or older. Motorcyclists must wear a helmet and must stay on the apron of the track. No passing. Single file only. Pace Car will set the speed limit.

I'll probably be there. We usually go every year.

sykb47l 03-06-2010 04:53 PM

How do you register?

ttexxan 03-06-2010 11:58 PM

Info on registration and is it 250 per person for the dinner if wife and kids want to go

GearheadSS 03-07-2010 12:40 AM

I won't be doing the $250 deal. I'll just do the $30 and a picture. The event has gotten very boring over the years thanks to safety regs but I still go to support the charity.

I remember when it first started, you have 1 pace car taking you around and you could get up to 150mph easily on the straights. Not anymore though.

When we ran this last fall, the group slots were full, but there wasn't any trouble running as a group. We all ate dinner together before heading to the track in a caravan. The event staff directed us all into a staging lane together so that we weren't separated. We had to wait in line a while, but by the time it was our turn, it was dark so we ran under the lights :) Several of us were able to go above 100.

Sounds like a great time! Would be interested in the $30 deal w/$10 picture!

wullger 03-07-2010 07:24 PM
