SS Pricing

I know this has been beaten into the ground but I need to know what you guys are thinking a ballpark figure for the SS/RS is. I have heard anywhere from 29k-40k+. I just donít want to get my hopes up just to find out that the price is going to be at the high end of the spectrum. Iím thinking, and so are many other people, that the SS/RS will be about 33K. I hope this price is about right. Iím looking to hear what people close to the Camaro think the price is going to be not just someoneís uneducated guess.

ChevyBoiSS 10-03-2008 01:17 PM

i think after taxes and such and RS addons.. roofs and all that $36-37k if not slightly a little more. I think there will probablly be a transmission price differential as well between the Auto/Manual and the LS3/L99

a12ozbottle 10-03-2008 01:18 PM

Well I think Fbodfather said the Mustang was their goal as far as price goes, so hopefully they hit it and we get a great deal.

JeanBond21 10-03-2008 01:19 PM

Everybody has their assumptions but I would have to say that yours is among the most reasonable. From the little tid bits we've heard, we kinda expect the SS to start out at about $29,995. R/S package wont be as expensive for the SS because the SS already has some of the features the R/S gives so you could be looking at $900-1000 for the R/S on an SS. Fully loaded which is the sunroof and R/S and all that stuff will wont even come close to touching $40,000 from what Fbotfather said (look at my signature). So I agree with your $33,000 ballpark. I still wouldnt mind $35,000-$36,000 though.

You aren't going to get that information here. Everyone associated with the project has been very tight lipped about the final pricing. It will be released when they are ready and anything else you read on this forum or others is pure speculation until then.

We all want to know the official pricing but it's just not available yet.

So, in the meantime, go think about color options. There is only 1 color more expensive than the rest. That's the only thing we know for sure at the moment with regards to pricing. :D

Yeahyouknwit 10-03-2008 01:40 PM

Thanks for the info guys. 35-36K is just outside my price range but if I’m that close I'll have to look under the cousins of the couch to find the rest lol

that price is high we have consistantly heard that it will be comparably priced to the mustang. we should know more on the 13th

Yeahyouknwit 10-03-2008 01:51 PM

Awesome. I'm looking forward to trading in my Stang and becoming a part of the Camaro family!:headbang:

My guess on a fully loaded SS w/ the RS package will be around 35k - 37k before taxes ..

I hope they hit that mark too. I was a little upset when GM said they put the Camaro on Jenny Craig and then the Camaro came out weighing in at a hefty, what, 3860lbs? Anyway, I trust that our Camaro will be priced right for the market.

headpunter 10-03-2008 02:25 PM

no new car is going to be lighter. between all the safety regulations added to cars and cost of materials there is little room to lighten cars without massive increases in price

radz28 10-03-2008 02:27 PM

I camn forsee high-30s for a fully equipped RS/SS. Just thinking about other interior options packages running for several thousands above base price make me believe this. Of course it goes without saying it would be astounding for that package to be less, but I won't be suprised otherwise. I think this car easily deserves and "premium" over Mustang that it will have. New chassis, great exterior and interior, so many more things. I think it's going to be a great value, even at the highend of the price specturm speculated here.

JMHO.

ShnOmac 10-03-2008 02:36 PM

I heard it was gonna be priced competitively with ferrari.........:mad0259:

ShnOmac 10-03-2008 02:41 PM

Yes that was sarcasm

ShnOmac 10-03-2008 02:44 PM

I reallllllly cant wait until the actual pricing comes out! All this price guessing is starting to drive me craaaaaaaaaazzzzzzyyyyyyyy.:help::bonk::bangdesk:

CHVY4LF 10-03-2008 02:45 PM

Yes i expect a loaded 2SS/RS to run around 35k before taxes and other bells and whistles

Speedy1975 10-03-2008 02:45 PM

I priced out a top of the line Mustang GT Premium yesterday to get an "idea" and it came to $33,400 after adding every option I could as close to the SS2/RS Camaro.

Take that for what it's worth.

Guys when the father said it would be priced comperably with the mustang, you need to realize there are three diff trim levels to the mustang, LX, GT, GT500. So one would suspect that the three different trim levels will be priced to compete with these three other trim levels. Now it has also been stated that the SS will not be 40K, that it will be very affordable. However that is probubly refuring to the base SS not one that is maxed out on oppions. S0 think of it like this. Base SS 29-32k, SS2 package 5-7K, RS package 2-3K, then add tax and all the other goodies.

I think this is definitely a case of abuse of the SS heritage. The V6 Camaro will be faster to 60 (est. 5.9s) than the HHR SS.

Quote:

Chevy claims a 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds and a 15.8 second quarter mile, but the HHR SS doesn't feel that fast.
Back on topic now...
