5th Gen Camaro Lambo Doors???

I've looked everywhere online and I have yet to find a kit for under 700. The so called " universal kits" only work if the kit is welded on. Anyone have any better luck?

Maddog1970 04-25-2010 11:49 PM

Vertical Doors INC.

The doors will bolt on to existing holes. No welding or special modifications.Attachment 117956

rice

I don't think there's a bolt on kit out there for less than $1400(e-Pay)..:(

bkkendrick 04-26-2010 01:39 PM

Why would you want that on a camaro? Waste of money and looks out of place.

cyber_satan 04-26-2010 01:46 PM

it doesnt look that good but it doesnt looks that bad ...!

The_Blur 04-26-2010 01:50 PM

I really hate calling this rice. In fact, I like the look and function. This adds a head-turning feature to the car, and it avoids door dings. As a cosmetic change, it is no different than adding a body kit, spoiler, rims, interior kit, or any of the other expensive cosmetic changes we can make to our cars. :iono:

fail

Buy a lambo, if you want lambo doors.

I agree. I personally wouldn't add lambo doors unless it was a show car, but it doesn't look too bad on a 2010 Camaro.

SDCamaro10 04-26-2010 04:16 PM

I'll pass on the lambo doors, they look good on certain cars, but to me, it just looks out of place on a Camaro.

noisemker 04-26-2010 04:23 PM

I didnt like them at first but they kinda grew on me, dont know if I'd pay that much for them tho

CamaroBAMF28 04-26-2010 04:33 PM

is there any other kits????? that kit is 1600 !!

Apex Paul 04-26-2010 04:33 PM

The only kit we offer is way more than $700. I'm not aware of any that are in that price range...yet. As the car ages, the aftermarket supply will catch up with demand and you will see the price go down. How long before it reaches the price range you are looking for is anybody's guess, but I wouldn't bet on it for a couple of years.

There is also the "rice factor" as stated in the thread already. There are a lot of people who perceive this as a modification that only "ricer's" would do and so the demand may never reach as high as it would on other car models. I can't say that I agree with that. I believe that personalizing a car is just that, personal. I wouldn't buy a Chevy Malibu, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't make it!

+1
At first, I didn't like it -- but it's growing on me, too. I'd do it if it was cheaper. My kids would go NUTS over it.

Vertical Doors

I have them on Mine, You can open the doors normally if you want. they don't open ALL the way but plenty to get in and out of with no problem whatsoever. Vertical doors did it right, I would not order from anyone else. Call Vertical Doors themselves they will give you better pricing. As far as the "RICE" look, if you have an SS it is "RICE" because of the fake mail slot and fake gills. I don't think anything on a camaro is "RICE" i just hate the term for a camaro:mad0259:. This is a GM product not an Asian product:chevy:. The car performs as advertised:headbang:. I do show my car and the only time I open the doors vertically is at the show and when I'm on a trailer. Here's a few pics. go to this thread http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79578&page=3 #57
The door does not sway very much at all with 25-30 mph winds and index's fine. They did not have to cut any wires at all either. It's not for everyone. Its about a 3 hour install.

lol this pic is in every lambo door thread on here...

racer778 04-26-2010 04:49 PM

LOL and he doesnt have a fifth gen, I like rice, Fried rice. Personalize as you see fit. These car's have a look unrivaled by any other.

Buhmblbe 04-26-2010 05:03 PM

I like the way way they look personally. Despite what anyone else thinks they just look cool to me. After watching Vertical Doors' video demonstration my kids and I agreed that that may be the closest thing to my TFE actually appearing to transform. My issues would be
1-Convincing my wife to let me get them:scared0012::scared0016:
2-Finding someone I trust to install them without charging a fortune
3-Praying that the windows stay sealed when it rains(do they ever leak:iono:)

Cro 04-26-2010 05:26 PM

I had lambos on the honda I had years ago (yes, I had a honda, no I am not proud, I drank ALOT back then) They were really attention getting, but the hinges were very heavy, which didn't matter for my 55hp honda, but if you are wanting speed it would add alot of weight. If speed is not a concern, I say its your ride, do whatever tickles your pickle. And if you get a bolt on kit that fits the car it is not as hard as you would think. The worse thing is extending the wiring to the door, if you even have to

HALFFAST 04-26-2010 05:29 PM

I do not like the look at all but I have a small single car garage and these would ease the in and out when in the garage. If there was an option to open the door normally when out and about and then flip a switch for vertical open I would get one of these on the driver side in a heartbeat.

racer778 04-26-2010 05:31 PM

It takes a few hours to put these on. You have to roll the fenders after you take them off, put popsicle sticks to retain your gaps on the doors with tape. remove your stock hinges install these. It retains everything stock. If you want to go back to original....swap them out. they are not difficult and I would have to say are built well from (Vertical Doors). Satisfied customer I don't work for them. Any body shop can install these if they know how to take a fender off. Yes they will open normally I only open them at car shows. and yes the windows operate normally and index as advertised.

Bourgui 04-26-2010 09:10 PM

I like them, if I ever have the money, I'll do it
Some don't like it but really, to each their own. This is YOUR car, if you like it, go for it!
