Robert91RS 10-11-2008 12:05 PM

I have heard great feedback on the Pro5.0 Shifters.

Sizzox 10-11-2008 12:16 PM

Im not sure what knob im gonna go with yet i gotta see pics of all of them first would be nice to actually have them to feel at the dealers or something.

haulass350 10-11-2008 01:11 PM

ya i dont really know yet gonna have to see what shifters they come out with when the car hits the market. never owned a manual so i never did any research on manual shifters lol.

The best shifter I have ever had was in my 2004 cobra .. I bought an MGW shifter .. it was great .. I am also partial to the BALL type shift knobs .. had one on my 2001 SS and loved it ..

has anyone ever used a T-Handle shifter? it looks cool but im curious as to how they feel shiftig wise.

bouncertime 10-11-2008 01:51 PM

I had a t-handle in my sandrail, but never cared for it. I now have a 2" ball shift handle and it feels more natural to me. You just have to try them out to find what feels more natural to you.

CaptianSam 10-11-2008 02:48 PM

chrome t-handle or white cue ball

13F20 10-11-2008 05:53 PM

I am going with a pistol grip shifter, like what is in the challenger.

Had this in my GTO, want the same if I get a Camaro. The chrome stick and black knob looked amazing in the car. Shame it shifted like shit and I had to go back to stock.

Had a T-handle in my 69 before I switched it to an AT. As far as feel, that is entirely up to the driver imo. If you start out with a ball and go to a T, you will most likely find it akward, same goes vice-versa.

The ball also allows for a more relaxed shifting style on the upshifts... under normal driving conditions.

so it might not be wierd since i have never had a manual?

Hurst short throw. Depends on what types they offer from there. I like my leather wrapped in my current 02SS.

Emher 10-12-2008 03:21 AM

I'll stick with the standard shifter for a while and see how it works. If there's a shifter similar to the concept released I'll check out how it feels.

CHVY4LF 10-12-2008 12:44 PM

i will do stock for awhile but then i will get the hurst with the cue ball shifter, i personally do not like the pistol grip or t-handle, drove a t-handle and it was kinda weird to grip, never drove with a pistol grip but dont like the design. i would rather have a ball to get good grip and feel on

The_Stache 10-12-2008 03:30 PM

Mine will be custom from a cnc and have shiftgates instead of a boot

ZZcamaro 10-12-2008 04:40 PM

I would like a short throw, but I don't think the Hurst that comes from the factory is going to be the best option...Once the car is out B&M should have one, and Hurst will probably even come out with something that is better in 6 moinths or so.

fastball 10-12-2008 04:43 PM

I would like the cue ball. I'm also thinking about puting this on my decklid:

headpunter 10-12-2008 04:43 PM

the Tr6060 is used in alot of cars so waiting six months isnt going to make the Hurst short throw anybetter. tr6060 is in the viper, corvette, G8 gxp, Gt500 and Gt500kr, just to name a few. the performance shifter companies have already gotten a chance to work with the transmission and know what works by now. B&M probably already has a kit for it even.

Jamestwilliams 10-12-2008 06:28 PM

If I like the feel of the stock stick I won't change it. I'd only change the stick if I didn't like the feel.

Thats cool, it would be cooler if the factory hurst LPO option came with that emblem...

1GMFanatik 10-13-2008 08:21 AM

I had a Hurst STS in my Cobalt SS/SC and loved it. I like the weighted feel and as much as the ball sucked in the dead of winter and summer, it was still pretty nice.

I have a Pro 5.0 in my '97 and can tell you that it's a night and day difference from stock. I will be going with the 5.0 in my 2SS/RS. ")

MajorTom 10-13-2008 12:31 PM

I think the Hurst with the white ball shifter will look out of place on a new car. But that's just me.

I'd rather have the improved shift action of a short shifter while maintaining the stock look.

I liked the SLP Hurst Shift knob for the 4th Gens, It was a stock looking leather Knob, with a Hurst H imprinted in it. That would be great!
