Camaro voted top 7 great road trip cars!

Imagine my surprise to find this. You wouldn't think a "sporty" car would be great for a road trip, but it is. :chevy:

Link to CNN Money story

"We wouldn't recommend the back seats for an extended trip but if you want driving fun, on a budget (the V6 is fuel-efficient, too), with comfortable space for two and their luggage, it's hard to beat the Camaro. It's also available with OnStar which, as almost anyone who has it will tell you, can be your best friend in unfamiliar territory."

yeah i drove mine from tampa to miami, and it was not harsh at all, a lot more comfortable than my honda pilot for sure.

v6sonoma 05-19-2010 03:37 PM

I agree. It was great for my trip to Maryland from Rhode Island.

mycamaroinKC 05-19-2010 03:41 PM

It was great from Kansas to Destin Florida. 16 hours and no complaints. There were only two of us though.

I drive back and forth between West Michigan and Centeral New York. It was a comfortable ride all 12 hours.

I really like it when I cut across Canada (cuts trip down to 9 hours) and everyone waves becuase its a Camaro. That or Canadians are just too damn nice... one of the two.

Within a month of getting the 2010 Camaro SS, we took it on a 1,200 roadtrip through the desert landscape of west Texas and Roswell then up into the mountains of Taos. The car handled great and was both fun and comfortable. Even blazing through the desert at high speeds, the car averaged 24.2 mpg. Not bad for a 400+ hp car.

myblackcamaros 05-19-2010 04:05 PM

This is very easy to believe, by far the most comfortable car I own.

Great news. In july I will be taking mine from chicago to wv about a 10 hr trip.

Revo1 05-19-2010 04:47 PM

It belongs on this list... Fresno to Monterey and back, and we kept driving for another 45 minutes when we got back... Not stiff or cramped, felt like we'd just gone around the block. Great for long trips, LOVE IT

About to do a trip from AZ to SC, 2134 miles, can't wait to see how it is. I know it will be fun, stopping once 1/2 way through it, not as young as I once was :)

I'm going to Galveston TX. a week from today, from Oklahoma City OK. Suppose to be a 9ish hour long drive. Should be fun...

Bond 05-19-2010 05:33 PM

I just did a 10hr day trip from Edmonton to Banff and back and the car was great. Not many high performance cars get this good for comfort.

I drove mine from RI to Jannetty Racing in CT to have the JRE Street Package installed, it was about 2 Hours each way, the ride home was awesome with the newly installed Dynatech LT's and Corsa Exhaust :)

Did that drive last year when I took the kids on a cruise. Very easy drive, just make sure your not around Dallas at rush hour times. It would have been funner if I was in the Camaro though.

The trip to C5Fest and back was very comfortable

Wow, you let dogs in your Camaro. You must really love them dogs. I love my dog, but the is no way in hell he is steeping his paws in my Camaro and putting his nose prints all over my windows. I have a Chevy S-10 that he is welcome in.

GreyGhost 05-19-2010 07:01 PM

Since buying the Camaro my son (14 next month) and I have been planning our first father/son road trip. Going from Colorado to St Louis to Chicago to Minn and back again.
Can't wait!

ATLNole 05-19-2010 07:03 PM

The C5Fest trip was a really comfortable drive.

Do you guys know if OnStar can work across borders? Cuz i live in Canada, but I want to drive down to the states =o. I don't want to be cut off especially if im in unknown territory XD.

One year ago today I took delivery of my Camaro, having never seen it in person, sat in it, or driven it....

We picked it up in Virginia (my friend is a Chevy dealer there)....the next day we drove back home to New York, approx 300+ miles...

I have a bad back, so I was a bit concerned about a car I had never been in and how comfortable it would be...:yikes:

I have to say, this is by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven, or been a passenger in(not very often...lol..)and the heated seats feature is the 'icing on the cake'...

The ride is smooth too...I have absolutely NO REGRETS at all.....:D

I am glad the Camaro got such a great write-up... :)

I've been telling you guys this for a long time :) Many of you didn'y believe me at the time!

We drove from Oshawa to Marco Island FL (by way of MI for a stop) in the snow! Christmas 2008

Two runs back and forth to Miami to visit family (and stock up on Cuban food :D)

Two adults and a dog and a trunk full of 2 weeks worth of stuff (and Christmas presents!)

We do the drive every year (from different starting points depending on where we are living) and this was the best road trip we have ever had. Very comfortable and great memories!

This year will be a CTS-V and I bet it won't top the road trip down in the Camaro

Camaro Freak 05-19-2010 08:20 PM

Another award for this bad-ass car. Many more to come.

ajs69cam 05-19-2010 08:26 PM

Almost a year now and we've gone from TX to NM-AZ-CA and back to TX--

Then LA-MS-AL-GA-FL and back to TX-- Will be leaving for NM soon--

Over 20900 miles and we've enjoyed everyone of those miles!!!
