Amazing. Over 128,000 Camaros. To think the last year of the 4th gen, 2002, even after knowing it was done for didn't even break 30,000. Great job chevy!

ron10 06-02-2010 10:37 AM

for another month this is good news for GM.the mustang is doing better, probably because of the new engine.great posts, very interesting.

Enator 06-02-2010 10:42 AM

Anybody who know figures for Challenger?

It's interesting to guess what's the cause of these figures.

My guess:
Last year, people were still used to the "if I want a muscle car, I only can get a Mustang" thinking, which explains the April 2009 figures. Then Camaros started to be seen more and more on the roads, and people got used to the idea of having choice; therefore the Mustang sales went down steadily throughout the year whilst the Camaro's were much higher.

This year May 2010, all those who were waiting for the new 5.0 Mustang bought their cars, which explain the jump; but interestingly, people still want the Camaro more even though there is no change between this year and last. This could be because of the fact that we haven't grown to miss the Mustang, given its uninterrupted history. So the Mustang is vastly improved, but most people already have their Mustang if they ever wanted one.

The funny thing is: the sales figures don't match what I see on the roads. I see far more Challengers than I do Camaros. The Camaros are stunning though when I do see one.

Damn. The Challenger is a pretty rare car. LOLZ.

It was fun while the streak lasted, and a long one at that! mustang has no problem taking over sales for June with that sharp of a curve in the positive direction, but I understand, new engine, newer design.

Right - 8812 was May 2009's #, number was repeated in the color charts as well.

YTD 2010 Mustang has sold 31,061 compared to Camaro 38,838 deliveries.

My mistake, sorry folks!!

jcamere94z28 06-02-2010 11:38 AM

So the mustang sold more last month?
Camaro 8,931 < Mustang 10,225

firefighter1 06-02-2010 11:38 AM

That jump in sales like that could mean a large rental car company just bought a ton of cars for their fleet. Look at how many camqaro's avis had. I know enterprise had alot of the mustangs at one point!

LAWMAN 06-02-2010 11:38 AM

i think the fact that the mustang showed to outsell the camaro the month of may,...may be a mistake,if you look back at may all the way to the left on the graph and also look at may all the way to the right,it shows the "exact" number of sell's,i find it hard to believe mustangs sold in each of may figures are the exact same number....?

Correct.

FenwickHockey65 06-02-2010 11:47 AM

You have to remember that Ford dealers are having fire sales on 2010 Mustangs to make room for 2011 Mustangs, so a sales increase was expected. Camaro is probably generating more profit for GM than Mustang is for Ford due to the lack of incentives on Camaro.

Edge.128 06-02-2010 11:56 AM

I must have got one of the last group made for 2010. it was a good run but the new mustang was bound to increase sales. lets wait a few more months and see how it all plays out. anyway the camaro will always be better than the mustang in my mind.

New picture upp. But wow biggggg jump for Mustang :D

b4z 06-02-2010 12:12 PM

I'm seeing reports that fleet and retail sales of the camaro were 13,000.

UCI CamaroFan 06-02-2010 12:12 PM

I've been waiting for this data.

I honestly thought this would happen. The new 5.0 led to increased sales. Also, you can get a good deal on a 2010 Mustang now to make way for the 2011's.

Took the words right out of my mouth, I saw tons of Ford dealers with crazy sales on 2010 Mustangs. This is most likely why. IMO

NoDak Scotty 06-02-2010 12:22 PM

Mustang almost EXACTLY doubled their sales...something smells fishy...if you wanted to buy a Stang, wouldn't you wait for the 5.0? This probably includes 2011 orders, and the fire sale for the 2010s on the lot. But to DOUBLE sales in one month? Hmmm. Pretty impressive though. Wonder if a lot of those are 2011's ordered for Hertz...
