Hi everyone,
my name is francois as you noticed I'm french and of course a true lover of american muscle cars and in particular...the Camaro.
It's been since the new mustang 2005 that at last legendary american muscle cars began to reborn from their hashes.
As Chevrolet announced the concept in 2006, I wrote to the french marketing direction to have details about the car. I got an invitation to the Paris autoshow to see the Camaro and...seat in it ;)
Someone at chevy france told me that the Camaro would be sold in france early 2010 - ok I'm not going to debate about this possibility because we know how hard it is to import US cars on our soil due to our damn security/pollution standards. Anyway I'm sure that if the Cam comes it'll be a hit.

As I told you I got IN the car, and well...it's beautiful ; this is truely a revival I forgot how much I love USA for these kind of wonderful toys. This is a MUST have car with a true soul that beats everything I know (I don't like european sport cars very much - except Maserati)

Well here are some pix I took, I know this is not very original but well you're in love or you're not...

Welcome francois! Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them!

I think it's great that GM will be selling the Camaro in other markets besides the U.S market. So France will also be getting the Camaro too? Cool! Hopefully in a couple years you'll be able to own one!

And welcome to the site!

I don't think I'll ever get tired at looking at this machine. Great pictures! There's nothing like American muscle.

Great Pictures, welcome and you just answered my brake question from another thread. Welcome Aboard!!!

00fanfan00 10-24-2008 10:16 AM

Thx guys!

well I'm praying everyday for the Camaro to be my next car in 2010 I will have a 45.000€ budget for it => 57.000$ at today's quote - but you know the Camaro would be probably a little more expensive ; and I don't want to imagine if i have to buy it with a french importer if chevrolet doesn't sell it...I remember that the HHR should come in france but didn't due to the very specific security/pollution french standards - Gosh I should live in the USA...

you're right

Chemical you're damn right! There's nothing on this planet like the sound of a good american made V8! I like the P51 Mustang aircraft sound too ;) (even if it's a Rolls Royce merlin engine).

Think many of them will sell over there? The cost of fuel must be wallet breaking??

Welcome Francois - What was the general consensus of the crowd? Did many like the car?

You're absolutely right about that but passion doesn't stop to this kind of thing ;)
as my actual car has a 16 gallon gas tank guess how much I paied in dollars this summer for full tank?................$100 and it's diesel !

So I think if i own a Camaro next year i will probably put a bioethanol kit in it.
And you know what? Here in france we have to pay a sup tax for this kind of engine that spits lot's of CO² => $3300

Is life not beautiful in France? :)

The crowd was really amazed ! people were really charmed by the beauty of the car, they stayed a very long time stuck like trees. In fact many people new the car from the film "Transformers" not from the 2006 detroit presentation. Others who didn't know the Cam at all were amazed.
The vette ZR1 was just behind I took pix from it too but the feeling wasn't the same people were just curious about the ZR1 (sooooo expensive) - The Camaro is a killer.

Ok lot's of discussions about the SS emblems which vanished my theory is : during WW2 the SS platoons were the worst thing that existed in our history, they were hitler's slaughtering troups that made many massacres in villages around Europe - Their emblems were two bolt S and the "totenkopf" => a skull ! I guess that's why SS would remember our people some very bad nightmares.

There's another theory of mine and I hope this is the good one : Chevy Europe really wants to sell the car but it'll be only the V8 engine so no need to putt SS emblems.

Interesting..never even crossed my mind that the SS emblems might've been mistaken for gestapo(sp?) symbols. Maybe Chevy will use '1S/2S' logos instead..

Thanks.... They really had the lighting setup well. The lines really pop

I was going to post the same thing, I heard Gm takes it off all their cars because of all the SS German war history.

Bonjour Mon Ami. Ca Va?

Super Sport 05-16-2009 07:55 PM

L'Europe va probablement seulement recevoir la version V6 pour rester en accord avec les règlementations d'émissions de l'Union européenne...

En passant, j'ai de la famille à Nantes! Mais disons que les performances du FC ne sont pas de quoi s'en vanter. :P
