You will need to have an oil change at the conclusion of the procedure.

The manual cleaning smoothed it out even more.

After this experience I am a big believer in a catch can install on day 1.

I believe the walnut shell blast is a final treatment, not an initial one. I can see how the initial oil buildup in the air pathways/valves would be a magnet for the shells.

DIY LFX Intake Manifold / Valve Cleaning

I didn't have a catch can on until 14K miles.

I had an upper induction cleaning done at the dealer to remove the initial oil and carbon buildup. That significantly helped smooth out the idle and...
