There was no lifter knocking until things had gone very wrong. From the point the "knocking" started to the dealership was less than 30 miles.

Yeah, Mine is/was fully stock and it broke just before 6K miles on the odo. I didn't get pics of the old engine so I can't help much with any comparisons.

I've never done it so I can't help much. There are a couple of threads in the detailing section that will help. I just remember reading you have to layer it several times or it won't look right.
