I am not sure why people seem to think a patch plug is expensive. You index the tire to the valve stem so no balancing is required. Places like Discount Tire do this for $15 to $20.

Index / mark the tire to the valve stem so when it is removed from the wheel it can be reinstalled without balancing, but ABSOLUTELY get it ddone right with a patch plug.

We do it for our taller road course clients....

We do it for our taller road course clients. There is fabrication required, but yes it can be done. Out tallest to date is 6' 7" and he fits with a helmet.
