If the car wasn't making noise prior to cam install. Then it should've had no problems on restart other than needing some more air to initially fire. It should've never sounded like this from the...

A few things that could've caused this.

1. Air pockets in coolant or no coolant
2. Lack of oil
3. Detonation

I'm going with installer error. This thing was likely run too long without...

All depends on the base circle of the cam and how much was milled. If the shop isn't checking preload and measuring ptv, then I'd go elsewhere anyway. Most common pr length with stock heads is 7.4....

I would absolutely not be driving the car around like that. First video sounds much worse, similar to a rod knock. Second video just sounds like a lack of oil to the top end.

The thing I dislike about mustang dyno's is the fact that they can be manipulated. So you can have a cam only guy making 500+whp, but a head/ cam guy making 450 whp.

I like mustang dyno's for...

At least they won't be pushing a product that doesn't perform, but it still looks bad on them that they made a product announcement last year and now they're dropping the ls3 all together.

Once again, nice results Ryan. LLSR is proven once again. Nice job on getting the t&d's to work with the PRC255's. I meant to message you the other day about that.

I agree 100%. I fall to as low as 94kpa after 4200rpms. Power continues to climb regardless, but there is power left on the table.

Perfectly believable dyno numbers. It is a good number which always causes doubt in some, but I could see you actually making that on your setup.

Regardless of what has been said in this thread, I think you'll be happy with the gains. The car should still maintain a stock like driveability, but should feel better, especially up top.

I believe it is the same guy judging from his posts. I don't think his hp number is much out of range for his build, but the torque claim of 550wtq is just extremely high.

If you have a 416+ ls3, I might believe the results, but with a 376, it just isn't happening.

If you truly are making 550wtq....you better start pushing parts for tsp/prc and getting paid for it....

You're claiming 527whp/552wtq isn't a happy dyno? You have the highest torque out of any ls3 I've seen by a large margin. You've got a nice build looking at the parts quoted, but there's no way a cam...

I don't think the engine so much cares about the oil as it does in the reduced octane rating from the oil mist. Longevity wise, I agree that I don't think it makes a difference. Timing wise, it does.

Also, if there is a guy claiming to have made 527whp with a 376 with heads and a ls7 cam, he is a liar, or has put the car on a serious number fudging dyno.
