From what I remember, no, I didn't have to remove anything. Pay close attention (i.e. take pictures) of the current routing, etc.

The one for the A6 transmission was a bit tricky.

A new wiring harness from GM isn't all that expensive and will probably take you less time to change it than repair it. I accidentally burned my on my exhaust and swapped it out in a few hours.

However, even unlocked tunes are fairly worthless in someone else's car. If the two people happen to have the identical mods, maybe it would work okay.

Opening the gap seems to have taken me from 19 MPG to 23.5 MPG (~e70).
On this car, it's a whole bunch of labor to change the bank 1 plugs, so I'll likely leave them...
