Ghost painting is a thin coat of paint and clearcoat over the lights themselves. When the lights aren't on, you can't even tell they're there, but they shine through the paint when they are turned on.

Damn, wish I'd known about these before I ordered my SIM non-ghosted sidemarkers. Wonder if I can figure out a way to ghost them myself.
