Quick Question About LS3/L99

What is the difference between the LS3 and The L99 and are they both available on the SS. Also what does CAI mean? I know these are rookie questions but if you can answer it thanks

Engine cover question

How do you take the engine cover off and if you take it off does it affect any other parts. It seems like if you took it off you would scratch the engine cover. Is there a safe removal?
