The probable problem is the panels fit so closely and being the bumpers are plastic after a couple years of temp changes its causing the plastic to wharp and as a result the fitment isnt perfect...

More then likely the cause of the engine seize up was low oil levels, there are alot of threads around on the forum about the V6's burning oil, theres alot of trouble with that engine for the oil...
