You also got to remember in the Camaro lfx the oil filter is on top of the engine so more oil will drain back down to the pan vs a oil filter down by the pan as in most cars and trucks oil will stay...

The 2ls has a different gear in it compare to the 1ls and the LTs models 3.27 vs 2.92 which gives a slightly better mpg rating for it but also a slower quarter mile time.

They're most likely talking about the 2LS with the 2.93 gear in it that gets the little better mpg compare to the other v6's trim that has the 3.27 in it.
