5k on good synthetic oil is NOTHING. You do know that the better synthetics are good for well over 15k miles? That does depend on how you drive it but in general, it's good for a lot longer than most...

How many miles do you have on your oil now? If you KNOW you're going to do the cam change in the next month or so, i'd just wait. No since in spending $80 on a oil change now, just to empty it all...
