You broke of the threaded part of the strut rod....

You broke of the threaded part of the strut rod. You will need to replace the strut. No way around it. Do not drive it as-is.

Loud does not equal good. Open exhaust sounds like broken exhaust. I have stood talking with other guys at car shows when a guy rolls in with open exhaust, and my reaction and theirs is an eye-roll....
