The oil in our manual transmissions is really automatic transmission fluid.

The Royal Purple Syncromax oil is way better for it though, made especially for our application.

You should ALWAYS put into 1st gear before...

You should ALWAYS put into 1st gear before reverse, when you step on the clutch the transmission doesn't stop turning instantly and reverse has no synchronizer so for sure you are going to grind...

But No Tex, you don't want to run your A6 to drain the converter, if you let it sit long enough half the converter is going to drain out...

Sounds like a bad syncro, if you're still on stock tranny fluid you could try Royal Purple, might help a little but more than likely the tranny's got to come out.
