Since you say the latch was not seated properly, do you think you would have been able to access the pull cable if that had been what you forgot to connect? Seems that is the more common mistake.

I mean the first attempt was removing the windows switch (learned that it can be removed very easly) and try to reach from there, but it wasn't on the bottom as it was on the place it suppouse to be. Probably it could be fetched from there with a little luck.
