So, bottom line my A6 Camaro brethren, is the PLETHORA of negative internet chatter overblown click bait? Is it a relatively rare issue if you keep good, clean oil in the crankcase?

What has been your experience? I'm at 38K on a 2015 SS with AFM tuned out for several years and so far...NO issues.
Some have issues. Some don’t. I can tell you that my 2014 Sierra 5.3L with 8:4 deactivation AFM has 180k and not one lifter collapse. (Knock on wood) I’m hoping to get 250k-300k out it. Transmission 6L80 is comeplete junk. I replaced at 120k. Granted I’ve put that truck through the paces for hours. I’ve driven a 20hr trip in 16hrs at max speed. I like it. I’d never buy anything newer though. Plannned obsolescence is in every major car manufacturer these days.
