That makes zero sense. Cars are constantly evolving. The camaro evolved from it's previous generation (LS series engines, Tremmec transmission, etc.) as has the mustang. The '05 was a new platform for the mustang with a drivetrain that was redesigned to work in the all new platform. The camaro did it a slightly different way, and they didn't even use a new platform. They almost just reskined a pontiac G8. Hardly "a whole new sheet of paper and start fresh" as you make it sound.
