You are correct this system is not a real ram air, and this is why New Era has the shield with the kit as a restrictor/protector, because at highway speeds the air was almost building pressure in the intake before the throttle body causing bucking while cruising, which is why we say to take it out at the track only. However, this is the case on all model year Camaro SS's, not just 2012-13. The New Era system does not heat soak below 45 mph at all, it will only heat soak at a stand still similar to most intakes.
Well if anything this finally is another pro party corroborating some
of what Vararam has been saying. Now where's the 2012 Vararam kit so that we can do a comparison? Did they just abandon it?
It's coming up on Spring and I plan on pulling the trigger on an intake here sooner than later...
