Instead of thinking in terms of "how easy it is to make the back end step out", how would you answer the question "How hard is it for me to keep the back end from stepping out?".
An appropriate level of throttle control (and self-discipline) should cover you for most driving conditions. For a few situations - mostly out near the car's grip limits - the drive-by-wire throttle tip-in response may well be too aggressive at small initial throttle positions. What's good for the dragstrip and impromptu straight line episodes really can be too much for other driving once you're working with 6+ liters worth of low end torque.
