I didn't mean to be mean, but the original car that bumblebee was way back when he first appeared in the toyline was a beetle.
In fact, they paid homage to that in the first movie. When Sam's looking for his car, Bumblebee
hits an old beetle, then
breaks all the other cars' windows with his stereo.
