So I bought a durometer to measure the hardness of the tire. The new 325s read 40. The old ones read 71-72. From what I can find, that means the old tires were about the same hardness as lousy long-lasting street tires, i.e., rocks.
The old 305s lasted me 11 track days. I won't be running these for that long.
