The V6 will eventually be higher volume, things are skewed by enthusiasts being the ones more likely to put up with the pain of shopping for and/or ordering exactly what they want and that group is most likely to go all out. As for fuel prices they tend not to be terribly disruptive until the $4/gallon range.
