Yeah, don't overthink a transmission cooler. The car, as stock, already has lines that run to the radiator. All you have to do is remove the return line, plumb a new line to your new cooler, then run a return line off your new cooler to where the old return line used to connect. Doesn't matter what size or shape, really, as long as it sits in some cool airflow and there's a way to bracket it in.
