Arrow ZBlues - Rise of the Phoenix… the rebuilding of a legend. [COTW 7/29/13]

So it started with my first Camaro. A 1973 true Z/28. It was blue with white stripes. When I was done with it, it was white with Blue stripes, Weld Wheels, Dart 2 heads, roller cam, roller rockers with a nitrous FOGGER system flowing thru my Holley carborator. I named her ZBlues... since she was white with blue stripes (and had a blue nitrous switch).. I would make the claims that if you raced her, she would give you a case of ZBlues. That car only got beat ONCE during my street racing days...and that was because we ran out of nitrous half way during a race and my girlfriend panicked and would not let go of the button (basically choking out the engine). That was the last time she was allowed to push the button.

Out of all my cars (besides Bad Vibe)... this was the car I miss the most.

So when I decided to build up another Camaro, a could of thoughts went thru my head. Bad Vibe 2.0? Nah....the Real Bad Vibe is still out there...hmmm... okay, lets rebuild (not exactly a rebuild) but play along with me... Lets rebuild a NEW VERSION of ZBLUES.

A month ago I purchased a 2013 Summit ZL1.

2 days later I got the windows Tinted and it was off to paint shop. it was in the shop getting a blue stripe painted on her and her ground effects painted white to match the car.

The same day I get her out of the paint shop I take her to get her wheels done. I wanted to do something unique to the factory rims.. So I guess I wanted to be the first one to put white rims on a ZL1...lol. But I also had a stipe of the same color blue added to make them more unique.

new badging from emblempros also came in while she was in the wheel shop. Once she got back I made her official.

from Here... ZBlues was officially born. also with those emblems were replacement ZL1 emblems...the "1" was changed to Blue instead of red.

Then next day... I had been invited to take ZBlues to Camaro appreciation day at the INDY 500 race track. This was my first time actually getting to drive the car farther than just a shop where I was getting her modified. She was well received there.

The following day....back in the shop for a full list of mods from Xtreme Vehicle Designs. They had heard about my project and had done work on a previous car of mine so they asked to Sponsor her. I said yes and she was there 3-4 getting worked over again.

this list of mods included:
dual halo's (white and blue)
sequential show stopper tail lights (night shaded)
white tail light bezels
Oracle side markers lights (painted white and ghosted)
Oracle Concept Mirrors
Headlight bulbs replaced with LED's (whats up with the factor bulds anyways?)
lighted cup holders
led lighting behind the grill
leds continued on for the ambient lighting inside
DC wall outlets powered by a 1000 watt converter added and 2 outlets put in the passenge side of center console. (I like to be able to charge my laptop, or my wife wants to be able to straighten her hair or use a hair dryer...lol. Either way, comes in handy.
powder coated rotors
painted calipers

upon getting Zblues back, I drove her for a week before dismanteling her again.

She is now getting the rotors powder coated and calipers painted blue. while waiting for these next mods to come back. I forgot to mention that at the INDY 500 track I met up Steve Ellis with RP Custom Finishes and gave him alot of engine parts to customize for me. I wanted something unique so I asked him to make those parts blue carbon fiber. And boy did he deliver.

I am getting as many mods I can get done before taking ZBlues to a Camaro rally at Sturgis. ZBLUES will also be featured by Oracle and Xtreme Vehicle Design at Camaro5Fest this year and also the World of Wheels.

Will post more pics once I get the caliper and rotors done, plus my hydro coated blue carbon panels on.

Here are the hydro pieces installed...well the crossmember is still being done but here it in the engine. Took time to put the CAI on also.

Also got the powder coating on the rotors completed...just waiting for the calipers and I can start to put her back together.

I still have alot of mods coming. Thanks for reading my thread.
