Anyway they also use a method called spoofing where they use valid phone numbers that show up on peoples phones instead of unknown caller, this way if you call it back they know nothing about what you are talking about. I had one call 4 days in a row from the same number that was local. I called it back and it was a answering machine so I left this message. " I have your phone number name and address, if I receive any more of these calls I will be contacting the police." An hour later the lady called back and said she had reported my threat to the phone company. After I explained what I was talking about she told me she had no idea. I did some research and contacted the police and they told me about the spoofing going on. The hangup calls you get are how these people are getting valid phone numbers to use in spoofing.
