My AUTObiography (be warned some import content)

I started my driving life at 19, although my first car I bought when I was 15 I never had the chance to drive it.

I saved my pennies and bought my first car. It was a 1970 Mustang Grande Coupe with a built 302 under the hood, that I bought from a neighbor who ran a speed shop
(not my car but a good representation)

I loved that car, washed it almost weekly, but unfortunately when it came time for my license my dad decided to surprise me with a Bronco 2 as a replacement (he sold my Mustang)
The Bronco 2 was shortly installed into a telephone pole at roughly 40mph due to lack of sleep at 4am. Thankfully the truck was the only casualty
The next car that held any meaning with me was my 1973 VW SuperBeetle, It also started my addiction to VW. That car had a 200hp built motor, full fiberglass body (except for the roof) It also visited 5 states and 2 countries (US and Canada)
The Beetle was sold for a 1992 VW Corrado VR6 another very meaningful car with my but unfortunately I cannot find any pics of the 2 VW's
After the Corrado I found the asian scene. I had a good job and I bought a new 2000 Toyota Celica GTS

After 3 years and 70K miles and 10 or so trophies with it as much as I loved the celica I wanted something older and without a CEL light. I found a 1969 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible
(not my car but a good representation)

The Ghia was sold back in 05 for a practical Pennsylvania winter car. an 03 WRX (sorry no pics)

A few years later after moving to florida this past year we bought the car that the Camaro is replacing. A 2007 Honda S2000

a great car by no stretch of the imagination but no where near enough torque.

Now. my wife (ghans64) and I have a 2SS/RS ABM Camaro on order. our new baby is now on a train on its way here. We cant wait.

For the longest time I have drank the "import" juice. I have been of the understanding that if it is america it is crap. I was unimpressed with the fit and finish of past american cars that I have looked at and up until recently have stayed as far from those podunk dealerships as I could. My wife asked me to go see the new Camaro. With a push and drag into the car I went. "I did not want to go" I said, "I saw the concept car in philly and I didnt like it" I said. after 10 minutes at the dealership "We are ordering this car". "I want the V8" I said. "Holy crap look at the build quality" I touted. "go look at the new GM's" I tell my friends now. "If we get rid of our GTI we should get an SS HHR" I tell my wife.

I am now 32 years old and I have found a new brand of cool-aid and I couldn't be happier. I am more than willing to take credit for my mistakes and my automotive bigotry.

The rumble of a V8 passing is music, the 4cyl passing sounds like a baby screaming for something larger. I was wrong but now I am proud to say that I ordered a Camaro and will be proud to show off the quality of my GM to anyone and everyone that asks and even those that dont.

Thanks
