They're just picking some heritage designation for a mid-trim version of a car out of their history. As far as luxury is concerned, it's all relative. Think of what even Rolls Royce offered back when the LT designation was new. Maybe they had heated leather seats, but back-up sensors? Automatic HID headlights? Six way power seats? PDIM? HUD? Voice commands for music, navigation directions, accidents, and phone calls? To say nothing of having 300+ hp V6 engines with
more than one horsepower per cubic inch that goes 0-60 in six seconds or less but still gets 29-30 mpg on the highway?
Sure, the luxury goal posts were moved over the decades, but as far as I'm concerned this
