My car is tuned and the computer will allow for more aggressive downshifts. But it still limits me and refuses downshifts that are a little too aggressive.

Also, if you ever get your car tuned, you can adjust the automatic downshift speeds. My car automatically drops to 3 gear at 30mph, 2nd at 20mph, and 1st gear at 10 mph. So whenever I drop below 10mph or come to a stop I'm in 1st gear using the tapshifts.
What tune are you using? Does it feel like a manual? I'm trying to get my LFX to put my passengers back against their seats when shifting. I'm convinced the LFX can do this, my uncle's e36 M3 can do this without a supercharger or turbo
