I believe it sounds stupid too. Its a marketing thing. Like in 98 whgen the LS1 Camaro had 300hp and the Vette 350hp LOL Plus both the manifolds from the Camaro/Vette are interchangeable and the rest of the exhaust is pretty similar in size and design..

Some quick highlights; forged crank because it needs an extra sprocket for the dry sump and it seems the auto GS are not handbuilt.

The GS Coupe with the M6 manual transmission gets the dry sump engine and are hand built at Wixom.
All GS convertable cars (regardless of transmissionss) and GS Coupes with the A6 transmission don't have the dry sump oil system and are not hand built at Wixom.
Regardless whether or not they were 2010, 2011 or 2012 models.
