It has been decided that we are going with 76/75 Precision Turbos with a T4 exhaust side and an "H" cover. These are the billet wheel CEA compressors and will make the same power with less overall boost, due to efficiencies throughout the system with the potentioal to make way more power than the old turbos... . Where the 67/66's were straining, these will be relatively loping along.
The boost wont hit as fast or as early, but when it hits, hang the hell on... It'll be wild, and I don't race at low RPM's anyway.
We are also looking at a substantially larger intercooler which will add to the overall efficiency. We are going to try to keep the IAT's in the 30 - 50 degrees above ambient or less. That may not be possible but that's the goal.
The intercooler we are looking at is 27 x 5 x 12 inches and rated for 1700 HP with a 1 psi drop across the cooler.
To fit these turbos in the same location we had the smaller turbos, we will be notching the frame and boxing it in.
This is with the understanding of how I drive the car and the intentions of well in excess of 200 at the mile. I've been assured the frame will be as strong or stronger than it sits right now.
We are also looking at changing the front bumper, possibly to a tube bumper to support the bumper cover and allow access for air flow to the inter-cooler. We did some modifications to the original bumper but this will be more in depth.
