I've noticed this is a common thread through the automotive service business. Oil changes are priced low because of competition, but as soon as you do something else they go crazy and you have to search and haggle.

Like when I got my trailing arms and toe-links installed my go-to place quoted me 6 hours of labor @ $100/hr, and the guy I can haggle with no longer works there. So I went around the corner to Midas just out of curiousity, and the guy there knew exactly what I was doing, and why, and had just done the same job on a CTS-V. He quoted me $150 total.

You just have to shop around and find the right place.
