I know this is going to spark debate (it inevitably does), but I think we need to seriously consider better gun control. The opposition's argument that you need guns to protect against other people with guns makes no sense. While the worst case scenario (one person has a gun, everybody else is defenseless) is pretty bad, statistically, stuff like that would be rarer and deaths as a whole will go down. It's like the flying in a plane vs driving argument. The absolute worst case outcome is much worse, but the probability is a lot lower.

As LEO from an LEO family, my heart goes out. I have lost two friends in the line of duty to gun violence and know others affected by it.
I had typed out a response to your post but this isn't the place for it. I do NOT want to detract from this brave man's memory or any others by debating.
I encourage others to not debate in this thread either.
