If it is in the shifter is in D it will start in first gear from a stop.
If it is in the shifter is in M (S displayed on DIC) it will start in first gear from a stop.
If it is in the shifter is in M (M displayed on DIC) it will start in first gear from a stop only when you down shift to 1st, otherwise it starts in 2nd.
