You are correct in that you don't have to buy a COPO to race class. You can buy a body in white or cut up an existing one and buy or build the motor yourself. They had to build the COPO in order to run those engines. You have to build at least 50. They didn't have an engine already built that could compete with Ford and Dodge. You have to remember, those are not the stock engines, these have all the good stuff inside.
