You can totally do a forged version of what you have now. And if for some reason you really only ever want to run 8psi, then keep the CR in the 10-10.5 area.
That said. If you are going to the effort of building a motor why not plan ahead for more power on pump gas? A 417 at around 9.5CR can be really fun on pump gas 12-14psi everyday
Why are you wanting to go forged if you are already content with power?
