On turbo vehicles you need to get the exhaust out as fast as you can. that's why you see 5" exhausts on semis, and HD trucks. for a N/a vehicle it's not as important to have larger pipes. in some cases going to a Massive exhaust (example 4"+) you will see a power loss.
