First of all that's illegal to change a person's coverage without their approval first.
Second, most insurance companies know the approximate value of replacement parts and take those numbers into account when figuring the coverage cost. If an insurance company is surprised by the cost of something, then they didn't do their homework like they should have and deserve what they get.
