Ya, CA is expensive - but I hear the San Fran area's not that bad -- here it's HELL -- you either have the areas you'd WANT to live in that are too expensive, or the ones that you can afford that scare the crap out of you and should be condemned.....my view anyway....I'm not a fan of 200 year old housing....
NH is better - but the property taxes are ludacris....
Edit -- and that's why I wanted to move to TX a few years ago with my ex-husband (then not the ex of course) -- same pay (since my company operates there too) and better houses!!
