there is a portion of the well that extends under the front fascia that is screwed to the front. The ss fascia does not go as deep as the zl1 fascia. as for tire clearance, when I installed I didn't notice any extra room. the wells "bolt up" inside the wells at the same spots. Hope my wording was not too difficult to understand
