No such thing as "de-tuning" for better MPG. In fact, more HP in the same displacement meaning more efficiency will equal better MPG over stock.
You will regret not buying the SS and in the long run will be trading in the V-6 resulting in a loss.
Get the SS, install a CAI, free flowing exhaust and a tune and you will come out ahead.
