Where I am confused is why the dealership replaced the HUD w/o blinking an eye but now won't help w/ fixing the actual problem. The cost to replace the HUD had to be way more than replacing the windshield.

Probably they charged the HUD to warranty and GM paid for that, they could still get charged back on the replacement...
