The series became more saturated with NASCAR drivers. Consequently, they had an advantage in that the cars most resembled/drove like the cars in NASCAR, and, they teamed up well with other drivers from the NASCAR series to win alot of the IROC races.

I agree also that some of the best IROC races included Unser Jr., Cheever, etc.. The best IROC race I saw was when Cheever ran Dale Sr. off the track, only to see Sr. make another incredible save and survive to hunt Cheever down in the pits.

I recently watched an interview with Jay Signore who explained that scheduling between drivers and tracks ultimately led to the demise of the IROC series. :(
