I didn't really think that looked good in the rendered Chevy photo, and this one confirms it. That's just totally out of place on this dash IMO. The retro interior wasn't meant to have a touchscreen put in it, but the public has been clamoring for it so here we are!
I'd rather see a better screen in between the gauges personally. There's a lot that could be done there, just look at the 2013 Mustang if you want an example! A higher resolution color screen could display turn by turn like it does now with an actual map, plus the track computer and many more messages and nicer graphics. Just a more upscale feel than a mono-color low res lcd. The radio could have used a screen upgrade, but not a bump to a 7" touchscreen.
Final note, the switch to electric power steering will likely result in a HP bump which I'm suspecting is the main reason behind it besides longevity. With the Mustang getting yet another power bump I think it's time we saw one too. The V6 has been pumped up like crazy so the V8 should get some love now! Hopefully it's not completely numb though like it is on most cars with EPS, maybe they'll have a sport button?
