Thus the large gold Bowie to help prevent folks calling them Mustangs.
Actually the white with blue stripes scheme comes from the days when cars raced in country colours. Germany was silver, England was green, Italy was red, France white and so on. America was white with blue stripes. Ford became most associated with those colours because they raced with then the most.
